The Women’s Housing Committee at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) in Kuwait has allocated 330 rental housing units located in Taima and Sulaibiya, to eligible Kuwaiti women in a lottery held on Thursday.

PAHW committee chairwoman Sheikha Bibi Al-Yousef Al-Sabah said the lottery was the largest organized by the committee since it was established.

She said the allocation reflected the committee’s efforts to provide suitable housing for eligible women in line with Kuwait’s housing regulations.

The committee has distributed about 2,000 housing units to Kuwaiti women since its establishment, Sheikha Bibi said.

She added that Thursday’s lottery focused on several priority categories, including divorced women, widows, women with disabilities, and those with limited income.

Al-Sabah said the committee was currently processing housing applications submitted in 2017 and 2018.

Some cases may be expedited where family circumstances require applicants to enter the lottery and receive housing sooner, she added.

She confirmed that the applicable regulations remain unchanged, confirming that the committee extended the period granted to beneficiaries to take actual residence in the housing unit after receiving it from two months to three months, rent-free, in consideration of the circumstances of female citizens.

The committee urged beneficiaries to occupy their homes within the allotted time. Failure to do so could lead to the withdrawal of the housing unit and cancellation of the housing benefit.

She called on the female citizens to fully cooperate with the committee and respond promptly to the request to update their data.
