KARACHI: Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal on Monday announced to challenge the Supreme Court order demanding vacating thousands of houses in different areas of Karachi that were given decades ago by the government, ARY News reported.
“A state’s job is to provide shelter to its citizens. The PSP will move court against vacating of houses. We will fight legal battle against the legal notice issued in this regard,” he said while talking to journalists in Karachi.
The apex court has issued notification to Jahangir Quarters, Martin Quarters, Pakistan Quarters, FC area flats, Officer’s Colony flats and other houses ordering to leave the houses. In the notification, people have been warned to vacate their houses in 24 hours otherwise they will be vacated by force.
The PSP chairman said the residents of those areas had government certificates according to which they had legal rights of ownership.
He warned the government officers to do not make haste in this case otherwise they would be responsible for all the consequences. He said the residents of those houses were the children of founders of Pakistan.
“Residents of Karachi are not orphans. The government should not snatch shelter from people. We will not let you snatch shelter from their heads. They have ownership certificates and we will challenge on its bases,” he said.
Kamal thanked people for participating in PSP’s rally held a day earlier and supporting its symbol ‘dolphin’.
He announced that he along Anees Qaimkhani and other PSP leaders and officials will visit different districts of interior Sindh from Wednesday.
