Following the exit of Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan from the ‘Don’ franchise, makers have reportedly roped in A-list actor Ranveer Singh for the upcoming film.
Days after King Khan bowed out of the much-anticipated ‘Don 3’, citing the ‘gimmicky’ idea of the universe as the reason, the makers have decided to lock in Ranveer Singh, among all those competing for the titular role in the action flick.

As per a source close to the development, Singh has always been a favourite of Excel Entertainment duo Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, and collaborated with them on films including ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and ‘Gully Boy’.

The source confirmed that Singh has been finalized to take the legacy ahead and the same was discussed with Khan as well.
Moreover, the makers are said to have shot a promotional video with him as well which includes an announcement regarding the upcoming ‘Don 3’.
The ‘Don’ franchise
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment got the rights to remake the Amitabh Bachchan starrer 1978 title ‘Don’.

They rebooted the franchise in 2006 with the first movie titled ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’ starring Shahrukh Khan in the titular role, while the second film, ‘Don: The King is Back’ came out in 2011.
Both the movies were helmed by Akhtar and their banner bankrolled the blockbuster projects.
