NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has arrived here to lead Pakistani delegation at the 72nd annual session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The premier was received at New York’s Kennedy International Airport by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Aizaz Chaudhry and Permanent Representative to the UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi.
Pakistan’s prime minister will highlight key regional and global issues, including Kashmir and Rohingya Muslims issues, in his address to one of the largest gatherings of leaders from around the globe, according to Ambassador Lodhi who briefed journalists on the premier’s engagement at UNGA.
She said he is scheduled to meet a dozen world leaders, including US Vice President Mike Penace during his four-day stay.
The premier will meet the Jordanian King and leaders of Turkey, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, the United Kingdom and Nepal. He will also have talks with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Abbasi will also exchange views with former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and some American business leaders.
