Ali Musa Gillani refutes allegations of attack on Imran Khan's convoy

LAHORE: Responding to allegations levelled against him by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Ali Musa Gillani – son of PPP senior leader Yousuf Raza Gillani – unequivocally refuted the allegations on late Sunday night.

Holding a press conference, Musa said the allegations were baseless, claiming his car was hit first by one of the vehicles in the motorcade.

“I had no idea whose motorcade it was,” he said.

Throwing light on the incident, he said five speeding vehicles overtook his car near Pattoki and the last vehicle hit his car. “Soon after the incident, the motorist and my guards exchanged harsh words but no bullet was fired by our end,” he asserted.

He said he also launched a complaint at police helpline about the incident. “I come to know about Imran Khan’s convoy from police personnel,” he added.

An FIR of the incident has been registered by both sides against each other. The regional police officer (RPO) Sheikhupura said the police will thoroughly investigate the matter.

Contrary to Ali Musa’s claims, the PTI in a statement said party chairman Imran Khan’s convoy came under attack while on the way to Lahore from Okara after a public meeting on Sunday night.

Several bullets hit the vehicle of PTI leader Faisal Javed right behind Imran’s convoy. However, he escaped unhurt as the vehicle was bullet-proof, the PTI leadership said in a statement.

The PTI has accused former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Moosa Gilani for the assault.

“Ali Gilani got the convoy attacked through his security guards. Gilani was boarding Land Cruiser with number plate ‘AFF 148’. The other Land Cruiser with him had the number plate ‘BD 7098’, while the vehicle from which guards were firing had the number plate ‘MNC 1111’,” said the PTI.

The ruling party of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced to lodge an FIR against Ali Moosa Gilani. This should be noted that Imran Khan’s convoy was travelling to Lahore after attending a public rally in Okara.
