WATCH: This touch-screen device can take verbal commands

Amazon has officially unveiled its latest Echo product: a touch screen device with built-in digital assistant Alexa called the ‘Echo Show’.

The WiFi-enabled home device with a seven-inch screen is the newest addition to Echo range that plays media and responds to voice commands.

The Echo Show has seven-inch device and eight microphones, beam-forming technology, and noise cancellation which hears from any direction—even while music is playing

Alexa – the brain behind Echo Show – is always getting smarter, and adapts to user speech patterns, vocabulary, and personal preferences the more it is used.

Echo Show also delivers updates automatically as it is always connected. Voice responses from Alexa are now enhanced with visuals and optimised for visibility across the room.

Echo Show brings users everything they love about Alexa. Users can watch video flash briefings and YouTube, music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, and more.

The device also introduces a new way to be together as users can make free hands-free calls and send messages to family and friends who have an Echo or the Alexa App.

Echo Show helps keep users organised at home. Users can start a timer in the kitchen and watch as it counts down, or easily see and manage family’s calendar.

Users can sign in to the Alexa App to take their to-do and shopping lists with them. Just add an item to the list from home, and whoever is out shopping will see it added instantly on their Alexa App.

Furthermore, Amazon Music provides lyrics on-screen as users just have to ask to play a song, artist or genre, and stream over Wi-Fi. They can also stream music on Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and more.

This is enhanced with powerful, room-filling speakers with Dolby processing for crisp vocals and extended bass response.

Users can ask Alexa to show the front door or monitor the baby’s room with compatible cameras from Ring and Arlo. They can turn on lights, control thermostats and more with compatible smart home devices.

Also, users can always get smarter and add new features along with plus thousands of skills like making a dinner reservation with OpenTable, requesting a ride from Uber, tracking steps with Fitbit, trying a new recipe from Allrecipes, and more.

There are new skills being added all the time, and users can also see ratings and reviews to learn what other customers are saying about skills in the Alexa App.
