#NEVERFORGET: Six months on, sister of APS martyr tries to capture tragedy through painting

Six months have passed to this dastardly incident.

The painting takes us back to what happened that dreadful day, when a couple of militants stormed the Army Public School in Peshawar and killed more than 140 children. Several teachers also fell victim to the massacre, in an attempt to flee the trapped children.

The painting, made by the sister of an APS student who was martyred in the ghastly attack, was shared by Asif A. Malik, a prominent writer and blogger, via a tweet.

The painted picture describes the horror and carnage that must have consumed the school when the militants opened fire. Several children can be seen huddled besides a desk and others with horrible expressions, as a masked militant opens indiscriminate fire. Splattered blood, trashed books and panicked students dashing from the class are also depicted on the canvas. In the midst of this all, a defiant teacher is seen standing up to the militants, proving to be a shield for the frightened children.

Tahira Qazi, headmistress of the Army Public School in Peshawar, was also riddled with bullets and killed. The headmistress had returned after being evacuated, to save her children from the beasts who had targeted them blatantly. Following the incident, condemnations and denouncements poured from around the world. United States President Barrack Obama, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as several key international leaders expressed sorrow at the deadly incident.
