In a shocking discovery, astronomers detected an exoplanet which is big as the planet Earth through repeating radio signals.

The distance between the Earth and the newly detected exoplanet is 12 light years. The details regarding the exoplanet suggest that there is an earth-like atmosphere around the exoplanet and a magnetic field too.

The magnetic field around Earth protects the atmosphere of the planet which is why life survives on that planet. The signs of the atmosphere around another planet may result in a planet that is livable and it may support life.

Scientists believe that the interaction between the star and the planet’s magnetic field resulted in the creation of these radio signals.

The author of the study published on the detection of exoplanets said that they saw the initial burst and it looked beautiful.

Earlier, NASA confirmed the existence of over 5,000 exoplanets beyond our solar system, which include numerous ‘hot Jupiters’, ‘super-Earths and ‘mini Neptunes’.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) added 65 more exoplanets to the online NASA Exoplanet Archive, which brings the total to 5,005.

The announcement was made 31 years after the discovery of the first exoplanets, which were found in 1992.
