ISLAMABAD: Famed singer Atif Aslam on Sunday handed a cheque of 2.5 million rupee to Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar as a donation for dam fund, ARY News reported.

Atif Aslam presented this cheque at the chief justice’s residence in Islamabad. Saqib Nisar thanked him for this warm gesture for the great cause of building Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

The fund formed to collect donations for construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams is about to reach Rs 2 billion mark, as per latest statistics.

The account was opened following the Supreme Court orders to collect donations from people across Pakistan and those living abroad.

All the commercial and micro-finance banks, and field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation have opened the Fund account to receive donations in cash, and through cheques, pay orders and demand drafts at all their branches across the country.
