Do you know, Marvel actually shot a 45-minute sequence of Thanos destroying Xandar to get the Power Stone, which never made the final cut in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Given what the masterpiece that ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was, didn’t it always feel strange how the film began with Thanos having possession of Power Stone – one of the six Infinity Stones?

However, this was not the original plan by Marvel, as confirmed by the villain’s creator Jim Starlin in one of the interviews.
Starlin revealed that the entertainment studio actually shot a 45-minute scene to explain the villain destroying Xandar to acquire the Power stone. The footage was not included in the final cut and was discarded before the VFX job, as Marvel didn’t anticipate the overwhelming reception of the film, and it would have added almost an hour-long runtime to the superhero film.
As Starlin puts it, “A month before the movie came out, I got an email or something from Joe [Russo] saying, ‘the 45 minutes of Thanos that we had at the beginning of Infinity War, we had it cut’.”
Marvel’s ‘Avengers’ inspired by Indian ‘Mahabharat’? claims Kangana Ranaut
“There was a whole sequence of him getting the first gem and they had to cut that out. They shot it, but they never wanted to spend the money on the effects and they didn’t want the movie to be as long as the second one [Endgame] was,” he explained.
“They didn’t realize it was going to be quite the hit it was.”
It is pertinent to note here that ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ cashed over $2 billion at the Box Office and remains the second most profitable MCU movie, behind only ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
