LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Sunday directed former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shehbaz to appear before in a case pertaining to the alleged torture of Ayesha Ahad who claims to be his wife.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar asked the PML-N leader and his alleged wife to turn up tomorrow.
Ms Ahad’s counsel lamented that Hamza is not being arrested despite registration of a case against him.
On the directives of the top court, police lodged a case against Hamza and five others on her complaint, lately.
CCPO Lahore Ameen Wain confirmed the lodging of the case against Hamza, Zulfiqar Cheema, Inspector Atiq Dogar, Rana Maqbool and Imran Yousuf. He said Ayesha Ahad nominated six people in her complaint and that the application filed by her in 2011 was part of the FIR against Hamza and others.
The suspects have been booked under section 354, 511, 149, 337, 506, 342 and 382. However, despite the case having been lodged, no progress has been made so far. Police have made no arrest so far neither have initiated any legal procedures in this regard.
Ms Ahad had informed the bench earlier that she feared for her and daughter’s life as Hamza has been making threats against them.
CJP has also expressed displeasure over non-compliance of subordinate court’s directives for registration of case on complaint against Hamza Shebaz.
Ms Ahad claims to be the disowned wife of leader Hamza Shahbaz, and has said that Hamza married her back in 2010.
