ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders today fired broadsides at ex-party member Ayesha Gulalai for hurling “baseless and unfounded” allegations on Imran Khan and warned her to tender apology or face legal action.
Addressing a press conference this evening, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed that Gulalai was paid Rs 50 million to defame Imran Khan.
He said Gulalai hurled allegations that were utterly baseless and couldn’t be proved.
“The party has sought resignation of Ayesha Gulalai from her National Assembly seat and if she refuses to do so, we will get her disqualified from the Election Commission of Pakistan.”
He said the ex-party leader violated Article-63 of the Constitution with those accusations.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI woman leader Alia Hamza said Gulalai must first conduct self-examination before scandalizing someone.
“I am the member of party’s core committee and women are treated here with complete respect and dignity,” she said.
She questioned Ayesha Gulalai why didn’t she speak about “so-called immoral text messages” back in 2013 when she reportedly received them.
Ms Hamza warned the belligerent Gulalai to refrain from speaking against Khan next time.
Ayesha said the party chief Imran Khan and his cronies had sent indecent text messages to female members
Gulalai categorically rejected the PTI claim that she demanded party ticket to contest elections from NA-1, and said that there are several other reasons which led to the decision to leave PTI, one of which was indecent messages from Imran Khan and his cronies.
“I don’t want ticket from this party, their standards are different, which people like us cannot meet,” said Ayesha Gulalai.
Gulalai claimed that she received the first objectionable message from Imran Khan in October 2013 and if anyone wants a proof, he or she can check the PTI chief’s phone.
