Ayyan submits petition in SHC to have her name excluded from ECL

After her name had not been excluded from the Exit Control List, supermodel Ayyan took to the Sindh High Court and filed a petition. The petition said that the decision not to exclude her name from the ECL as contempt of court, since the Supreme Court had issued clear directions to authorities to remove the singer/model’s name from the list and allow her to travel abroad.

A couple of days ago, the Supreme Court had given its verdict and had allowed Ayyan to travel abroad. The court had also issued directives to have Ayyan’s name removed from the ECL. However, Ayyan’s name had not been excluded from the list and she was stopped at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi from traveling to Dubai.

The Interior Ministry had taken off Ayyan’s name from the ECL but put it back on the list after FIA had stated that the supermodel was still under investigation for money laundering.

Ayyan had been arrested last year in March at the Islamabad airport for carrying more than USD 500,000. The supermodel was sent to jail on charges of currency smuggling and money laundering.
