In a weekly press briefing, FO spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said at least 7,000 Kashmiris had faced injuries at the hands of Indian forces while 500 of Kashmiris were suffering from serious eye wounds due to use of pellet guns by the Indian security personnel.

He said statements by Modi were responded by Balochistan citizens in shape of rallies.

The FO spokesperson said Pakistan was raising matter of Indian atrocities in the IoK at all forums and pursuing the matter vigorously.

Regarding US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Pakistan, he said the top US diplomat had expressed wish to visit Pakistan, but no date could be finalized as yet.

On August 18, people in Balochistan took to the streets to register their protest against Indian PM Modi’s statement on Balochistan.

Political leaders, civil society members and citizens in large numbers took out rallies holding placards against Indian PM and their government.

In Chaman, protesters burnt effigy of Narendra Modi and Brahamdagh Bugti for their anti-Pakistan statements.

Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri slammed Baloch leader Barhamdagh Bugti, the exiled leader of Baloch Republican Party, for making anti-Pakistan statements and asserted that ‘those fuelling propaganda from foreign land’ have no support at home.

Mr. Zehri said Modi’s controversial claim that the Baloch people had thanked him for his support of the “so-called insurgency” in the province was senseless.

The chief minister said no one could detach Balochs from their homeland. “A handful of people are shedding blood of their own brothers for the sake of some ‘peanuts’, said the CM.
