Benjamin Netanyahu will attend Gaza summit in Egypt

CAIRO: Egypt’s presidential spokesperson said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would take part in Monday’s Gaza summit in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
“Both Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will take part in the peace summit to solidify the agreement to end the war in Gaza and reaffirm their commitment to it,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said that Trump and Netanyahu held a call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the presidency added. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is also due to attend.
Additionally, the Israeli military says it has received the remaining 13 hostages. Seven captives were released earlier today. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society has also named 1,718 Palestinians scheduled for release from Israeli jails as part of the ongoing exchange.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump landed in Israel aboard Air Force One on Monday as a first group of Israeli hostages returned home from Gaza after two years’ captivity.
The US leader was greeted on a red carpet at Ben Gurion airport by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.

While talking to the media aboard Air Force One, US President Donald Trump declared Sunday that the “war is over in Gaza” as he headed peace trip to Israel and Egypt.
Trump brushed off concerns about the ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas.
