Govt should refrain from rescinding 18th Amendment: Bilawal

LARKANA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Thursday that the rulers should refrain from ending 18th Constitutional Amendment and threatened to topple the government, ARY News reported.

Bilawal made the statement while addressing a public meeting in connection with the 40th death anniversary of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Terming the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s death sentence as ‘judicial murder’, Bilawal said that his grandfather had been punished for strengthening the defence of the country. He said that Bhutto had laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear programme in 1972 which completed in 1978.

He said, “History will give a lesson to those, who never get the lesson from the history.”

He reiterated that PPP is standing firm on its ideology set up by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and followed by Benazir Bhutto.

While pointing aim at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government, Bilawal said that the rulers were failed to run the national economy. He added that the government could not run by charity money. He alleged that the government was increasing unemployment instead of providing opportunities.

He blamed government over the rise in inflation, saying that essential commodities like wheat, pulses and rice were now out of reach of a common man.

Bilawal termed the cases against PPP leadership as ‘political engineering’ and ‘political revenge’. He claimed that the courts were well aware of the ‘fake’ cases’.

The PPP chairman said that justice would begin with provision of justice to ‘Bhutto Shaheed’. Bilawal said that he was hopeful for justice from the judiciary. He vowed that the mission of Bhutto would be accomplished and democracy will be victorious in the country.
