SEHWAN: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday inaugurated fourth satellite hospital of Karachi’s National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Sehwan.

Addressing a gathering of people, Bilawal invited patients from all over the country for free of cost treatment at South Asia’s largest hospital of heart diseases NICVD Karachi whose four satellite hospitals are also operated and maintained by the PPP government in Sindh.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the fourth satellite hospital at Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences in Sehwan. Similar centers providing treatment of international standards have already been inaugurated at Larkana, Hyderabad and Tando Mohammad Khan last year.

“Sehwan is a refuge of humanity. People from every color, creed and sect visit this place for spirituality and peace,” he said.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Health Minister Sikandar Mandhro, Information Minister Nasir Shah, Dr Nadeem Qamar and other Cabinet Ministers, MNAs, MPAs and office-bearers were also present on the occasion.

Bilawal Zardari claimed that thousands of patients were being treated free of cost on daily basis previously only rich people could afford the expensive heart treatments. But now any person, rich or poor, can also benefit from these facilities now, he added.

He said that Sindh had surpassed all other provinces in the provision of health facilities but still some individuals were questioning the performance of the Sindh government.

The PPP leader pointed out that only 250 Cyber Knife Machines were available in world. And  if this technology was available in Pakistan then it was only in Sindh.

“This treatment costs Rs6 to 7 million in the world but Sindh government’s facilities don’t charge even a single rupee,” the PPP Chairman stated.

Talking about the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), the he said that the Sindh government started union council-based Poverty Reduction Programme, which had so far pulled 600,000 families out of poverty through extending interest-free loans to the women.

“This is a matter of pride for all of us that NICVD has achieved a magnificent change in last three years and turned into perhaps the best hospital for heart attack management,” he added.

Bilawal said that the PPP stood by commitment of its martyred leadership to give top priority to health sector instead of the opponents who threw billions of hard-earned public money into a single small road of Lahore to create a showpiece item.

“I am standing on the land of Qalandar today where terrorists bombed Dhamaal. Instead of standing up against terrorists and raising a word against terrorism, our opponents turned the tragedy into a hospital tragedy. I would ask our opponents not to fall so low to adopt enmity against the motherland,” he said adding that he was standing at the hospital where the injured of the Sehwan blast were brought for treatment.

He said that NICVD Satellite Hospital Sehwan will provide free Cardiac Emergency Care, free Primary PCI (Angiography during heart attack), free ECG and free Cardiac Care Services.

Bilawal Zardari said that Sindh also started free Liver Transplants in another world class hospital Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), where the PPP government had employed specialist doctors from Germany to conduct free of cost Liver Transplants.

“Sindh has already functional units for free of cost kidney transplants while PPP government has launched free Ambulance Service in Thatta and Sujawal district, which will also be extended to other districts. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Center was built and made functional in Karachi, together with Indus Hospital Sindh government built a 300-bed modern hospital and Thalassemia hospital in Badin,” he further pointed out.

Looking at these major health facilities in Sindh, the PPP Chairman said “Showbaz” Sharif inaugurated an incomplete hospital for which he must be congratulated. However, PPP will complete this hospital after coming into power in Punjab. “We will build modern and free hospitals in every district in Punjab like we did in Sindh,” he added.

He said NICVD Satellite Hospitals will also be established in Sukkur, Nawabshah, Khairpur and Mithi soon.
