Brett Lee celebrating his 38th birthday today

Brett Lee made his test debut in the first test against India at Melbourne in 1999/2000 series where he took five wickets in his very first inning. He then took two wickets in the second innings, making it seven wickets in his first test.

The pacer made his one day debut against Pakistan in 2000.

Brett Lee is considered one of the fastest and one of the most deadly bowlers the game has ever seen. He used to compete with Pakistan’s “Rawalpindi Express” Shoaib Akhtar for becoming the fastest bowler in the world but he failed to achieve the feat.

Lee played 76 test matches and took 310 wickets. His career best performance is nine wickets in a test match against New Zealand.

He has also taken 380 wickets in the ODI format in his 221 matches. His best performance is 5/22 against South Africa at Melbourne in 2005/2006 VB series.

The Aussie legend has also taken 28 wickets in his Twenty20 career which includes a hat trick as well.

Although, Brett Lee is considered a bowling legend he has shown good performances with the bat as well. He has scored 1451 runs in his test career with best score of 64 runs.

He has scored 1176 runs in ODIs with 59 runs as his highest score. He also made 101 runs in his T20 career as well.

The pacer also represented Sydney Sixers, New South Wales, Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders in Australian and Indian domestic cricket respectively.

Lee played his last test match in 2008 and retired from the ODI and T20 format in 2012.

Brett Lee excelled with the ball as well as with the bat and such cricketing gems are hard to come by. He inspired many youngsters to pick up the ball and deliver it at express speeds. Happy Birthday to the legend.
