Bruce Willis was seen enjoying a rare public outing in Los Angeles on Wednesday, appearing upbeat despite his ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia.
The 71-year-old Die Hard star flashed a warm smile while seated in a car next to a friend driving him around the city. Willis, who celebrated his birthday last month, kept it casual in a navy jacket layered over a grey t-shirt.
Last year, Willis’s wife, Emma Heming, revealed that he had moved into a one-story home down the street from their main residence, where he receives round-the-clock care from a full-time team of carers. Heming frequently visits Willis along with their two daughters, Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 11.
On Wednesday, Heming celebrated Mabel’s 14th birthday with sweet Instagram posts, sharing a throwback photo of Bruce kissing Mabel as a little girl and writing, “in a blink of an eye!” She also shared a video of Mabel enjoying a boat ride, adding, “Mabel’s 14.”
Earlier, Heming also marked Willis’s birthday with a nostalgic Instagram post showing him smiling by the water. She used the milestone to highlight her newly launched charity, The Emma & Bruce Willis Fund, which aims to raise awareness of frontotemporal dementia, support research, and assist caregivers.
“This journey with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) has opened my eyes to the realities so many families face,” she wrote at the time.
