Candace Owens has posted a screenshots of text messages exchanged with the late conversative commentator Charlie Kirk, in which he expressed enthusiastic praise for Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z’s verses on Kanye West’s 2010 track “Monster”.
The messages, dated March 30, 2018 quickly went viral after Owens shared them on social media, sparking a flurry of reactions online.
In the conversation, Kirk quoted Minaj’s iconic opening line, “First things first, I eat your brains,”
Showcasing a more personal and animated side of him. He further expressed his admiration for the song, stating it motivated him to run a few miles while listening. Owens responded by calling Minaj “The Best” and also praised Jay-Z’s verse for inspiring her during workouts.
The screenshots drew a variety of comments from social media users. Many were surprised, with one user remarking, “but Charlie talked so bad about Nicki; he was secretly a fan”, while another joked about the misspelling of Nicki’s name in the messages. One fan humorously noted that Kirk being revealed as a “barb” was not on their “2025 bingo card”, while another hoped that Minaj wouldn’t see Owens’ post, referencing the rapper’s recent online disputes with Cardi B and Jay-Z.
This resurfaced conversation comes amid ongoing discussions about Candance Owen’s recent remarks following Kirk’s death and various political controversies. Kirk was short and killed on September 10, during an event in Utah Valley University, with suspect Tyler Robinson arrested and charged with aggravated murder.
