CEC takes notice of disruption in KP Senate polls

According to details, the CEC sought a report from the provincial election commissioner on the issue. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that action will be taken against the members of the provincial assembly who were involved in causing disturbance.

Sources within the ECP told that the guilty MPAs can possibly be sentenced up to three months and fined Rs 1000, while the assembly membership of the convicted members can also be revoked.

It was further reported that Senate Election Rules 1975 prescribe punishment in this regard.

Here it is pertinent to note that some members of the KP Assembly had disrupted the Senate polls, due to which the ECP had to extend the time for polling.
