ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has written a farewell letter to Secretary Interior Ministry appreciating the whole team for “bringing qualitative change in the working environment of the ministry and attached department”, ARY News reported.
Nisar Ali Khan, who remained ousted PM Nawaz Sharif’s interior minister till the dissolution of cabinet on July 28, had earlier said that he had decided to resign from the ministry and politics after the Supreme Court’s final verdict in Panama papers case against the Sharif family but reversed his decision after some friends persuaded him.
From the language of the letter, it seems that Nisar is not only reluctant to continue as interior minister in the next PM’s cabinet but will also resign from politics.
“During my political career spanning over the decades now, I have had the opportunity to head various ministries as their Minister by the Grace of Almight. Needless to say that the present tenure was the most challenging period during my entire political career in terms of huge and multifaceted challenges that we, as a country, were faced with,” reads the letter.
The Supreme Court on July 28 disqualified the PML-N leader over his failure to disclose his receivables, constituting assets’ in his nomination papers filed ahead of the 2013 general elections.
Nisar, in the letter said that he realized that at times his expectations from the ministry and its attached departments exceeded the institutional capacities but we must not forget that people of Pakistan look towards the politicians and bureaucrats of the country for redressal of their issues.
“I wish you all continued successes in your professional as well as personal lives,” Nisar concluded.
