MULTAN: Giving his views on prevailing political turmoil amid Panama Papers case, veteran politician and former leader Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Javed Hashmi on Sunday said that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar won’t abandon the ruling party.
Addressing the media, Hashmi said that Nisar won’t quit the party membership but may resign from his ministry instead. “Chaudhry Nisar is a mature politician who has expertise in manoevuvring the political uncertainty diplomatically,” he added.
Dispelling an impression suggesting formation of a forward block within the ruling party, Hashmi said Chaudhry Nisar is pro-Muslim League worker. “He is an asset to the ruling party who is striving to shun institutions confrontation,” he added.
It is to be mentioned here that the interior minister is to hold an important press conference today (Sunday) amid rumours doing rounds that Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has decided to part ways with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after 35 years of association in the aftermath of the Panama JIT findings about the Sharif family.
Since the release of the report of the Panama joint investigation team, formed to probe money laundering allegations against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children, there are widespread rumours that Nisar and the PM are at loggerheads over the latter’s stubbornness to stick to his office and fight corruption charges against him tooth and nail.
According to media reports, Nisar, generally known for speaking his mind, advised the premier during a cabinet meeting to step down keeping in view the ground realities and serious problems he was facing.
Reports quoted the minister as saying, “Mr Prime Minister, now only a miracle can save you.”
