KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday snapped if any work in Sindh is being done in a rightful manner.
While hearing the suo motu case of utilization of luxury vehicles by ministers beyond entitlement, Chief Justice crossly asked the provincial advocate general, “Is there anything that is being done right in Sindh?”
Sindh Advocate General Barrister Zameer Hussain Ghumro informed the three-judge bench that 149 luxury vehicles in the use of ministers and other officers beyond their entitlement had been impounded from the Sindh government.
On which, the CJP questioned where the recovered cars had been parked and how will they be used in the future?
“A central pool has been constituted which has issued a notification bearing the framework regarding the use of recovered vehicles,” the Sindh advocate general responded.
The notification stipulates that the luxury vehicles are permitted for use for field work and special assignments.“Rs25,000 per day will be charged for the use of vehicles for field work and special assignments,” the advocate general informed.
“This means that the Sindh government will now be renting out cars,” the CJP lashed out and added that all this work is being done on the basis of ill-intentions.
This notification will again allow ministers to use luxury vehicles all day long, he noted.
The top judge declared the notification of central pool null and void.
The applications from all provinces pertaining to the case have been combined and the matter will be jointly heard in the capital, CJP said.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 28.
