CII members should be equal to Parliamentarians: Sherani

ISLAMABAD: Maulana Sherani, Chairman of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), demanded that the CII representatives should be considered equal to Parliamentarians, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference on the occasion of the accomplishment of his tenure as Chairman CII, Maulana Sherani said that the council is considered under the Administration and it represents all the religious affairs.

He added that CII and Parliament are both related to the legislation and it should be considered equal to the Law Ministry.

Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, expressed his consent over Maulana Sherani’s recommendation to make the post of Chairman equivalent to as that of the Speaker National Assembly or Senate.
