ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi on Tuesday said now the citizens of Islamabad would be able to get driving license within a day and the license would be delivered to them on normal fees.
“Earlier the citizens had to go through a strenuous process to acquire the license. Our aim is to provide the masses justice and respect,” he said while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad.
Shehryar Afridi said earlier about one lakh licenses were made in a year. Thanks to INL for providing the machine which could make those many licenses in one day only, he said.
He said the government had proved that nobody was above the law, through taking effective and unprecedented measures.

The minister of state for interior said giving respect and dispensation of justice to the general public was the foremost responsibility of the incumbent government. He also emphasised the need for changing the police culture.
Shehryar Afridi said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police had shown exemplary performance which had been appreciated by the world. The effects of police reforms could be felt in Islamabad as well, he added.
“A policeman was martyred during a robbery attempt on December 31 last year in Islamabad. Later, six of the robbers have been arrested who were involved in about 70 robbery incidents,” he said.
