RAWALPINDI: A civilian was martyred and three others sustained gunshot injuries in cross-border firing by Indian army at Nakyal sector along the Line of Control (LoC), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday.

The military’s media wing said Indian army continues to terrorize civilian population along the LoC. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Farooq.

The injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Nakyal.

The Pakistan security forces conducted retaliatory firing and targeted Indian army posts, the ISPR said.

An eight-year-old boy was killed in cross-border firing by Indian troops in Khuiratta Sector along the restive LoC earlier this week.

Previously, the Foreign Office summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh to lodge protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces along the LoC.

The Foreign Office told the Indian diplomat that despite calls for restraint, his country continued to indulge in ceasefire violations.

Indian forces had carried out more than 335 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary this year, which resulted in the death of 15 innocent civilians and injuries to 65 others, it said.
