ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Thursday arrived back in the country after a week-long visit of the United Kingdom to raise funds for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Talking to the newsmen at the airport before leaving for Pakistan, the top judge said, “The entire nation is the protector of the dam-find raising campaign which I started, adding, the love shown by the overseas Pakistanis will be remembered forever.”

Chief Justice Nisar, landed at Islamabad Airport via Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight No-PK-786.

Justice Nisar had said Rs 40 billion were spent on ‘Saaf Paani scheme’, but the citizens could not be provided with clean drinking water.

“It’s now high time to render sacrifices to save the next generation,” said the chief justice. The top judge said Rs 1600 billion were required for construction of dams, hence “we need to explore more options apart from fund-raising.”

He regretted that governments in the last 40 years kept ignoring the alarming issue of water crisis and didn’t pay heed to need of building dams.

CJP Nisar had arrived in Britian, on November 21 for the fund raising campaign for the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.
