CJP takes suo moto notice of sexually abused girl, seeks report in 48 hours

KARACHI: A young girl found in a badly tortured and unconscious state from a drain in the neighbourhood of Korangi late Thursday has been identified, as her maternal uncle reached police station on Friday to claim her after getting a hint from troubling media reports that victim was the missing girl of the unfortunate family.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar also took suo moto notice of her case, seeking a report from IG Sindh A.D. Khawaja within 48 hours.

According to the alleged relative of the young girl who approached Ibrahim Hyderi Police Station today, Savera, as he called her, went missing early on Thursday and since then they had been trying to find her.

Meanwhile, IG Sindh also contacted the alleged mother of the girl in a house in the area of Korangi who was devastated to hear details of the sequence of events her daughter had gone through.

IG Sindh there was also told that the victim’s family had shifted to their new house only seven days back in which they were currently residing.

The young girl was raped and later was tortured to death; however, she survived in a drain where she was thrown in the Ibrahim Hyderi police limits on Thursday evening, said police and hospital officials.

With wounds on her throat and hands, she was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre which referred her to Civil Hospital Karachi where a lady doctor examined her and confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.

As per the last reports received by ARY News, the girl’s condition was out-of-danger at the Civil Hospital Trauma Centre while an inquiry was underway.
