CM Punjab constitutes committee to inquire woman's death at Jinnah Hospital Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a three members inquiry committee to look into the death of an old woman on Jinnah Hospital Lahore’s floor.

According to an ARY News report, a 60-year-old woman, Zehra Bibi was brought to the hospital at 3.15am due to cardiac-related problem and the staffers only gave woman a drip after about three hours as she was lying on the ground meant for pedestrians.

Apparently paying no heed to the ailing woman’s condition, the hospital staff also refused to provide her with a bed saying all of the beds were occupied.

Delay in timely treatment deteriorated the woman’s condition. ARY News correspondent tried to approach provincial health adviser Salman Rafique and medical superintendent to bring the issue into their notice, but they declined to speak citing ‘busy schedule due to meetings’.

The three members committee, headed by Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Dr. Faisal Masood, will submit its report into this incident within 24 hours. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Dr Sardar Fakhar Imam and Additional Secretary Technical, Health Department are the other members of the committee.
