KARACHI: An 18th Sindh apex committee meeting led by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday decided to eradicate Karachi street crime on a priority basis.
“Cases of street crime criminals will be looked after by anti-terrorism courts (ATCs),” said the provincial chief minister while giving instructions to Inspector General (IG) Sindh AD Khawaja.
It was also finalised that increased efforts would be made to convert ‘Karachi Operation’ into an effective and speedy offensive against militants for getting improved results this year.

The meeting also deliberated on implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), a plan made in 2014 in the aftermath of the Army Public School Peshawar attack when all key political parties in the country nodded in agreement to devise a strategy that could deal with terrorism without losing precious lives.
“Sindh is the only province in the country that acted more on NAP as compared to other provinces,” remarked CM Sindh during the meeting.
Earlier, Chief Secretary Sindh Rizwan Memon gave a detailed briefing to the participants of the meeting and said that at least 16 terrorists were hanged while cases of some 19 were still in the military courts.
“Sindh’s legal committee has cleared nine more cases for the military courts,” added the provincial chief secretary.
Corp Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Shahid Baig Mirza, Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh Major General Mohammad Saeed and senior ministers Nisar Khuhro, Maula Baksh Chandio and others also attended the meeting.
