CM Sindh gives go-ahead for treatment of ‘tortured cadet’ in US

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday gave permission to send a student of Larkana Cadet College – who according to his family was allegedly tortured by the college administration – for receiving immediate medical treatment in the United States (US).

The provincial chief minister ordered the Sindh Department of Health to facilitate the victim and his father in getting their passports ready so that they could travel to the US at the earliest.

Moreover, CM Shah also asked the provincial Finance Department to issue required funds for meeting medical expenses of the cadet college student.

According to Dr Usman Chachar, Secretary Health Department Sindh, the boy and his father would be sent to the US on a normal flight instead of an air ambulance.

Local doctors were confident that the treatment of the cadet college student was possible at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Ohio in the US, where a highly competent child specialist would treat him.

The boy might take at least three to six months to recover, they added.

The boy’s family had claimed that they found him in an unconscious condition in August but the college administration had been denying he was tortured by any college official.
