The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, while the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif is the chief guest of the ceremony. The chiefs of all the three armed forces of Pakistan, DG Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Zaheer ul Islam are also present at the ceremony.
Ministers of the federal cabinet, ambassadors of different countries and numerous political leaders are also invited on this occasion.
The Chairman of the Senate, Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq and the Opposition Leader, Syed Khursheed Shah are also commemorating the Independence Day in this dignified ceremony.
Among the notables there are Aitzaz Ahsan, Aijaz ul Haq, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Rasheed Godial and several others.
Renowned artists are performing on the stage, demonstrating their skills to the full in celebrating the independence of the country.
