ISLAMABAD: A meeting related to establishment of a parliamentary committee on alleged rigging in General Elections 2018 on Thursday decided that a 24-member committee comprising members of the National Assembly and the Senate will probe the matter, ARY News reported.

The said committee will include two-third members from the NA and one-third from the Senate, the forum decided.

The meeting was presided over by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser in Islamabad.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, Leader of the House in Senate Shibli Faraz, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Pakistan Peoples Party leader Syed Khursheed Shah and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Deputy Secretary General MNA Farrukh Habib were also present on this occasion.

The meeting discussed different issues relating to constitution of the parliamentary committee to probe the allegations of rigging in General Elections 2018.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif in August demanded to form a parliamentary committee to probe allegations of rigging in the general elections.

“In the history of Pakistan, this parliament was created by rigging,” he had alleged in a chaotic speech in the National Assembly amid ruckus and sloganeering by the PML-N members.

He said the election was marred by misconduct including not providing Form 45, slow pace of polling, issuing results on loose slips, and an outstanding 1.6 million votes were rejected. He said that cases were also lodged against 16,800 workers of their party including terrorism cases.
