Cop martyred, 17 injured in Quetta’s Saryab Road blast: spokesperson

QUETTA: The Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani confirmed on Monday that a cop was martyred and 17 others sustained injuries in Quetta’s Saryab Road bomb blast, ARY News reported.

Liaquat Shahwani said in a Twitter message that the number of injured persons has increased up to 17 in bomb blast incident today.

He prayed for the peace of the departed soul of the martyred policeman and early recovery of the wounded persons.

In his previous message, the Balochistan government spokesperson said that a bomb blast targeted the police personnel deployed at the gate of Balochistan University. The explosive material was installed at a motorcycle parked near the university’s gate.

The spokesperson has strongly condemned the coward attack against the Balochistan policemen and vowed that the responsible persons will be brought to justice.

Liaquat Shahwani has also shared the names of the persons wounded in the bomb explosion who were brought to the Civil Hospital and Trauma Centre Quetta.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has also condemned the bomb blast at Saryab Road, Quetta and summoned a report from the Balochistan police chief.

Sheikh Rasheed said that terrorists will not be allowed to destroy the peace situation in Balochistan. He vowed that the federal government will provide maximum resources and assistance to the provincial authorities.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan issued directives to launch a thorough investigation into the incident.
