ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Sunday said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has identified 92 Covid-19 hotspots in 20 cities.
Taking to Twitter, he said: “NCOC has identified 92 hotspots in 20 cities, which cover 40% of all active cases & effect only 3% of Pak population.”
“We can have substantial impact on disease spread while minimizing disruption in livelihood of citizens. Effective hotspot lockdown can make a decisive difference.”

Moreover, later in the day, the Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar visited Islamabad hospitals treating COVID-19 patients and reviewed the facilities provided to them.
He said that they would be increasing 2100 oxygen-equipped beds by July end and 189 of the beds were provided to Islamabad hospitals.
“Poly Clinic, PIMS, and the CDA Hospital would be provided with oxygen beds,” he said.
The minister said that it was important to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to tackle rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.

“We have achieved success by implementing smart lockdown in virus hotspots,” he said as government highlighted hotspots in 20 major cities of the country.
Asad Umar said that the chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) would be visiting different cities across the country to review the available health supplies needed to treat COVID-19 patients.
