Corps Commander Lahore calls on Shahbaz Sharif

LAHORE: Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Amir Riaz met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday, ARY News reported.

The chief minister felicitated Lt Gen Amir Riaz on assuming charge of Corps Commander Lahore and expressed best wishes for his new assignment.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that the civil and military leadership is on the same page in the fight against terrorism. The war on terror is the war for the survival of Pakistan, he emphasized.

He said people from all social strata have rendered sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

The CM said Pakistan has achieved success in the war only because of unanimous decisions of the civil and military leadership.

He said soldiers, sacrificing their lives for the sake of the motherland, have been national heroes. Their sacrifices have bore fruit in the shape of peace in Pakistan, he added.

Shahbaz said the nation praised the great sacrifices of martyrs.

He stressed that terrorists cannot stand in the face of the nation’s unwavering resolve. They will never be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs, he resolved.

The nation was proud of its brave armed forces, the chief minister further said.

In his remarks, Corps Commander Lahore assured Sharif that the armed forces will leave no stone unturned to bring peace in the country.
