CJP discharged from hospital after 'satisfactory' health

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday moved to his residence from Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) after undergoing successful angioplasty yesterday.

“The health of Justice Saqib Nisar is satisfactory and he has been advised to take rest,” the hospital doctors said.

Earlier, the cases scheduled for hearing in Supreme Court (SC) today by the bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) , Mian Saqib Nisar, were de-listed from the court’s rooster owing to his [CJP’s] hospitalization.

Yesterday, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar underwent angioplasty at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.

Fake bank accounts case, the case pertaining to the verification of pilot’s degrees and a case regarding losses in railways department were scheduled to be taken up by the bench No 1 of the Apex Court, to be presided by the CJP, now have been deferred.

The chief justice was shifted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain on Sunday. Subsequently, he was examined by the doctors and his medical tests were conducted. Later, he underwent balloon angioplasty during which the blocked artery was cleared.

The surgery remained successful and the chief justice is in a stable condition, informed panel of the doctors.

CJP Nisar had been shifted to VIP ward at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. Strict security arrangements have  been made at the hospital to avoid any untoward situation.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa arrived at hospital yesterday and inquired about the health of the CJP.

According to a recent Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan jointly, the performance of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar was widely supported by the people of the country.

The 57 percent of the respondents rated his performance in the past one year as commendable.
