The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the main contender to the formerly governing Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), is leading with a majority of seats in the general elections, according to unofficial and unverified poll results.
Celebratory messages have begun to pour in for the star cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan whose party is winning a majority of NA seats to form the government at the Centre as he is poised to become prime minister.
Indian cricket coach Kapil Deve felicitating the PTI chief said: “First of all I would like to present my heartiest congratulations to Imran Khan. This is a huge achievement. What Imran Khan did in terms of cricket is a minute thing in front of the nation. It took him 25 years to reach this point. He has this idea of leadership and I hope that this achievement of his takes Pakistan towards betterment.”
