Daniel Pearl Case acquitted suspect detained under MPO

An anti-terrorism court in Hyderabad Central Jail on Friday acquitted Qari Hashim in abduction and slaying case of the Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Karachi in 2002.

I.G. Jails Nusrat Hussain Mangan talking to media at Nara Jail in Hyderabad said that the government of Sindh has ordered detention of Qari Hashim for 90 days under the MPO.

He said that 85 dangerous prisoners have been imprisoned in Central Jail Hyderabad.

Replying a question he said that Karachi Central Jail tunnel incident being investigated and scores of suspects have been arrested.

He said the security has been on high alert in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur jails after the jail break bid in Karachi.

Nusrat Mangan said that the security in jails will be stepped up during Muharram with the help of Rangers, Police and the Frontier Constabulary.
