Death toll rises to 33 in Orakzai explosion

PESHAWAR: The death toll from explosion in Orakzai agency rose to 33 on Friday night as three more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.      

District management confirmed the death toll saying that three critically injured people of the incident breathed their last at a local hospital tonight.

The officials feared the death toll in the blast could rise as some of the injured were in critical condition in the hospital.

It is pertinent to mention here that the bomb was exploded in the Jumma Mandi Bazar, situated in the area of the lower Orakzai Tribal district, that killed nearly 30 people on the spot and injured more than 40.

As per sources, almost 30 civilians, including three children lost their lives during the incident, while security forces had launched rescue operation soon after they received information about the incident.

FM Qureshi condemns Orakzai blast 

Reacting over the blast in Orakzai agency, the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, strongly condemned the terror attack.

He said such heinous and cowardly acts cannot deter nation’s resolve to stand against terrorism.

Karachi: Attack on Chinese Consulate foiled, three terrorists killed

It is pertinent to mention here that in another attack, at least three terrorists were killed as security forces and police foiled a terror attack targeting the Chinese Consulate in Karachi’s Clifton area.

Two policemen embraced martyrdom in exchange of fire with the three terrorists armed with suicide jackets. Two civilians were also killed in the attack.
