According to the Indian Express, the dimpled actress will croon a single with none other than Oscar winning musician A.R.Rahman. Rahman took the liberty of posting a picture of himself, Padukone and Imtiaz Ali dabbling with a musical instrument, on his Facebook page. The picture fueled speculation regarding Padukone’s musical ambitions in the film.
This is not the first time that an Imtiaz Ali flick will have the lead actress singing a song. Last year’s critically acclaimed Highway also featured an Alia Bhatt song Sooha Soha. Sooha Saha was also composed by A.R.Rahman and generated positive reviews.
In Tamasha, Ranbir Kapoor will star alongside his ex-girlfriend Deepika in a romantic film. Ranbir will play the character of a free spirited nomad, who goes out of his way to make people happy and has a happy-go-lucky attitude as regards to life. Padukone will also play a cheery, bubbly role in which she goes to Corsica, the French Island. Together, they explore the place and perform in various theaters (hence the title Tamasha). The couple soon fall for each other on account of their mutual love for comic characters, Asterix and Obelix. The much anticipated film started shooting in July 2014 and is slated for a 2016 release.
Ranbir and Deepika’s chemistry on-screen has always been admired by the public. The 2013 hit Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani was also a success as the audience loved to watch the two romance each on-screen (regardless of the split off-screen). Let’s hope the magic combo of Deepika, A.R.Rahman and Imtiaz Ali give us another hit song. The star actress has dared to venture into the singing paradigm; let’s hope for her sake she conquers it as well!
