DG ISPR terms Indian army chief’s statement as irresponsible

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor has termed statement of Indian army chief against Pakistan as irresponsible.

“Such statements do not suit to those who occupy important positions,” he said in an interview on Saturday in response to Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s statement against Pakistan .

He said that Pakistan was a responsible nuclear state having vigilant national and professional army and India should not misunderstand it.

The DG ISPR said India was involved in state-terrorism through non- conventional ways.

He said Pakistan’s nuclear technology was only to fight the menace of eastern border (along India).

“Nuclear weapons are to stop war with India and not for use on personal desire. It is the credible nuclear power that has barricaded India from making advancement,” he said.

Asif Ghafoor said conventional war between Pakistan and India was not possible and that was the reason that Pakistan was target of India on different fronts. India had failed in its attempts despite using all the tactics, he said.

Khawaja Asif warns Indian army chief

Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif warned that Indian army chief’s statement amounted to invitation for nuclear encounter.

“Very irresponsible statement by Indian Army Chief,not befitting his office. (It) Amounts to invitation for nuclear encounter.If that is what they desire,they are welcome to test our resolve.The general’s doubt would swiftly be removed, In sha Allah,” he said in a tweet.

FO says threatening represents Indian army chief’s sinister mindset

Cautioning India to refrain from any misadventure, Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal said the style of threatening represented India’s sinister mindset.

“The threatening and irresponsible statement by the Indian Army Chief today is representative of a sinister mindset that has taken hold of India. Pakistan has demonstrated deterrence capability,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“These are not issues to be taken lightly. There must not be any misadventure based on miscalculation. Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself,” he warned.

In a provocative statement on Friday, General Bipin Rawat said the Indian military was ready to call Pakistan’s “nuclear bluff” and cross the border to carry out any operation if asked by the New Delhi government.
