‘Disco Dancer’ getting sequel after 41 years

Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty’s classic film ‘Disco Dancer‘ will have a sequel after 41 years.

The predecessor was released in 1982. The action-musical film told the story of street dancer-turned disco sensation Jimmy.

The film’s music was composed by late great composer Bappi Lahiri. It gave hit songs such as ‘I am a disco dancer‘, ‘Jimmy Jimmy aaja aaja‘ and ‘Yaad araha hai‘.

According to Indian news agency Times Now News, the sequel of ‘Disco Dancer‘ – whose reported title is ‘Disco Dancer 2‘ – will be about Jimmy and his son. The filming will happen in different countriesm including Russia.

News outlet Mid-Day, citing sources, reported that the producers are planning to approach Mithun Chakraborty to reprise his role as Jimmy. It added that the makers are in talks with international music composers as it will play an important role in the flick.

Moreover, the writer of hit films ‘RRR‘, ‘Baahubali‘ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘ KV Vijayendra Prasad has been approached to write the film.

Disco Dancer 2‘ is being backed by its director and producer B. Subhash. Speaking with a news agency, he said he gave the flick’s rights to Nitin Kumar Gupta and latter would be its joint producer.
