Donald Trump is feeling sad for former Prince Andrew following his arrest!
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, February 19, Trump described the arrest of Andrew as “a very sad thing,” saying the development is damaging for Britain’s royal family.
Trump said he was saddened by the news that the former Duke of York had been taken into police custody.
“I think it’s a shame. I think it’s very sad,” Trump said. “I think it’s so bad for the royal family. It’s very, very sad. To me, it’s a very sad thing.”
The former prince, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested earlier in the day at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to UK media reports.
Authorities are investigating allegations that he shared confidential information with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a UK trade envoy. Andrew has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.
About 11 hours after his arrest, Police confirmed that Andrew has been released from the Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk and was photographed in the backseat of a vehicle. Searches linked to the inquiry were conducted in Norfolk, while additional searches continued in Berkshire, where Andrew’s former home of Royal Lodge is located.
King Charles also addressed the situation in a statement issued through Buckingham Palace, emphasizing that due legal process must be followed.
