ECC meeting underway with Finance Minister Asad Umar in chair

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has been underway with Finance Minister Asad Umar in chair, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Information and Technology will furnish a summary for special grant for visa regime advertisement campaign on the media.

A summary for cash payment to international law firms and lawyers would also be presented to the meeting, according to the sources.

The agenda also includes summary for funds of Pakistan Army’s Special Security Division. A summary for approval of technical grant for defence services for the current fiscal year will also be presented in the session.

The government summary for Utility Stores Corporation ahead of Ramazan will also be presented in the ECC meeting today.

The ECC will deliberate over a paper of concerned ministry for fuel transportation through rail and possible approval of the proposal.

The meeting will consider to issue licences to the oil marketing companies. A report on inland freight margin on the petroleum products will also be part of the ECC session agenda.

The summaries for approval of a grant of Rs. 1.33 bln grant for the immigration and passports department and Rs. 38.9 mln grant for the FIA and FCP headquarters will also be discussed in the ECC session.

Moreover, another summary for approval of Rs. 700 mln grant for the National Commission for Human Development will be discussed in the ECC meeting.

A fund request of Rs 330 million for Gilgit Baltistan region will also come under discussion.

The previous meeting of Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet held on April 8 had discussed the overall state of the national economy.

A report regarding revival of Pakistan Steel Mills was presented in the ECC meeting. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Steel, the country’s largest industrial complex is dysfunctional since June 2015.
