An election petition was filed by Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) leader Nasir Cheema challenging the results in the constituency. The tribunal ordered re-polling in the constituency after hearing the petition.
It should be noted that Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Warraich of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) was elected in Punjab Assembly after securing 26,620 votes.
