LAHORE: At least 21 shops were burnt in a fierce blaze at a shopping mall in Anarkali area of Lahore here in the wee hours of Saturday, ARY News reported.

Ten fire tenders doused the fire after six hours long fire fighting.

According to rescue sources, the fire broke out at fourth floor of the shopping mall around 2 am and engulfed adjacent buildings.

Shop owners alleged that the emergency agencies delayed in rescue operations resulting in heavy losses.

However, no loss of life has been reported in the incident.

According to fire brigade sources, it took hours to control the fire as it was difficult to reach on the spot through narrow alleys of the congested area.

Currently the cooling process has been underway.

The District Emergency Officer Dr Ahmed Raza said that shopping mall had several shops and godowns of decoration goods while stating the rescue operations could not start timely as the approach path to the spot was narrow.
