CHARSADDA: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said economic and security situation has significantly improved as compared to the one that prevailed in 2013.

Addressing passing out parade at Frontier Constabulary training center in Shabqadar near Charsadda, he said the country has achieved great successes in the war against terror.

He said that it had never happened in 70 years history of the country that a large number of people stepped out of their homes and flocked to the country’s recreational spots, which laid credence to the government claims that peace was restored and people’s economic condition improved.

Pakistan was back on the path to development and prosperity, the interior minister said, adding peace and political stability were indispensable for development.

He lauded the joint efforts by the law enforcement agencies to restore peace in the country.

He said World XI players toured Pakistan, which elevated the image of Pakistan around the globe. Clearance would be sought for hosting international teams at Karachi and Peshawar grounds, he added.

Speaking about Sino-Pak relations, Iqbal said ties between the two countries had strengthened with the CPEC project. When no one was ready to invest in the country, China came to Pakistan’s rescue, he added.
