AIIB president meets PM Imran, announces to invest in CPEC projects

BEIJING: Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun on Friday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Beijing and announced to invest in the projects pertain to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

According to the details, PM Imran Khan met with the AIIB President on the side line of China International Import Expo.

Talking to AIIB President Jin Liqun, PM Imran Khan said that the incumbent government is bringing new reforms for economic restoration in the country.

He offered AIIB resident investment opportunities in different sectors including power, water and transportation. During the meeting, PM Imran and AIIB president agreed to ensure transparency in the projects by accountability.

 PM Imran acknowledged the AIIB’s financial cooperation in different projects in the past and expressed hope that the bank will invest in the new projects as well. “Being a founder member, Pakistan supports AIIB’s mission”, he concluded.

Fawad says nation will soon get good news

In reference to PM Imran Khan’s visit to China, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry had said the nation would soon receive a very good news.

Briefing media about the prime minister’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, the minister said the meeting remained very successful.

He said Islamabad expected a big economic package from Beijing, adding that the premier’s China visit will help reduce financial problems facing the country.
